The Ooltewah High School Academy of Global Studies is a small learning
community functioning within the framework of Ooltewah High School. The Academy
seeks, with a consortium of university and business partners, to prepare
students for life and careers in a "global" community. To achieve this goal, the
Academy will nurture a global perspective through a rigorous curriculum that is
designed to address the needs of students with varied capabilities, backgrounds
and career aspirations. Serving as the foundation of this curriculum is an
emphasis on the historic foundation of significant world cultures. We will
research each culture?s distinct geography, language(s), religion(s) and economy
by paying close attention to the impact that trends and perspectives may have
had on them. Global citizenship will be encouraged through a focus on
international business, politics, communication, legal systems, environmental
crises, technology and the arts. The OHS Global Studies Academy hopes to instill
a passion for learning that will foster personal development and success in a
global marketplace.
