Studies indicate that students who experience success in the first year of high school are more likely to graduate; therefore, incoming ninth grade students will enjoy the opportunities and privileges of Ooltewah High School's Freshman Academy.

Freshmen will have a personal advocate, dedicated core classes, some dedicated elective classes, as well as programs, field trips and other activities designed for assisting this population with the transition from middle to high school.

FRESHMAN ACADEMY SCHEDULES

    All students in the Freshman Academy are required to take the following core courses:
  • English 9
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • World History

    Core courses meet every other day, on an "A/B" schedule, for the duration of the school year. Students earn one credit at the end of the school year for each core course.

    Students may choose two additional courses each term in Career & Technical Education, Fine Arts, Foreign Language, Physical Education, Social Studies, Wellness or JROTC. Students will have 6 classes per term on their schedules, and may earn a total of 8 credits in a school year.
