Model United Nations is open to all students at OHS with an interest in international issues/relations, and debate. Every year, OHS joins dozens of other schools in this area to compete and simulate actual United Nations Functions- from writing resolutions in committee to debating major issues in General Assembly to organizing and publishing newsletters to keep delegates informed. Other students serve as officers or Security Council delegates.

Participants are assigned a delegation and a country whose positions they will hold during debate and work diligently to prepare their research and arguments. A variety of countries and committees is available at every conference, including Disarmament, Social & Humanitarian, Legal Issues, and Economics & Finance.

This year, OHS students have attended the Southeastern High School Model United Nations conference as well as the University of Tennessee's High School Model United Nations held on the UTK campus in Knoxville.
