Divorce

(grades 4-5)  Clara and Deanie's parents are divorced, and they are looking forward to spending two weeks with their Dad at the beach.   They are upset when they discover his girlfriend and her son are also going to be there.  A near tragedy changes all of them.

 

Cleary, B. Strider. Avon Books, 1991 (grades 4-5)  Leign Botts's parents are

divorced.  He keeps a diary to let us know how he thinks and feels.  We are able to see some of the emotions a child would feel in this situation.   We are able to feel the going back and forth between Mom and Dad.

(Grades 3-4)  Jenny's father has left, and now her parents are getting a

divorce.  The author uses this story to address many doubts and concerns a child has during this time.

(grades 5-6) There is not much good that can come from divorce, but in the case of Brian, it caused him to become a self-sufficient person.  In trying to visit his Dad, there is a plane crash, and he must take care of himself until he is rescued. He has time to reflect on his life, and how he can make it better and give up alot of his anger.
